Arrivederci John!

1 Mar

Today is the day that will go into fashion history books as the day we lost a great designer. Did he die? No.. Did he get himself into loads of trouble? Yes!!!

On the 25th of February Galliano was arrested in Paris for alleged assault and anti-Semitic remarks. After Dior suspended the designer for several days, today the news broke that John officially does not work for the brand anymore.

Yesterday a video was released showing Galliano making anti-Semitic insults to a group of friends at a nearby table. Natalie Portman who is the face of the Miss Dior Cherie fragrance and Jewish, commented: “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today.”

This means that for the first time in 15 years Galliano will not be present at the Dior show this Friday. Reactions within the industry vary. But who is to blame; was he provoked or was it Galliano’s own fault?..
